I’m going to be incredibly frank in this discussion today. I’m in fierce mamma mode.
The ego is the shadow world we co-created when we fell asleep and forgot who and what we really are. It's our baby.
I call this the ego construct – it is not real, it is not Truth – it is illusion, a dream.
We now have the choice to either come from Oneness and BE that here or allow ourselves to be driven by the ego through our personas.
We are Oneness. And we also often act as our personas. We are not our personas – they are the sense of self we created within this ego construct to navigate through it.
We can absolutely be Oneness through our personas – we can express Love, Light, compassion and so much more Truth.
And we absolutely have to be aware of the ways the ego uses us for its own purposes.
Remember WE created the ego construct; we created this shadow. Think of Plato’s cave in which people faced the wall of the cave and only saw their shadows, and yet if they simply turned around, they would see the light. So it’s not just this external thing – it’s a communal illusion – that we have externalized psychologically to build this world, and attempt to make sense of it daily.
And here we are doing our best to abide by its rules and restrictions – instead of turning around to see and be the Light that we are.
In between study periods I’ve recently been watching a couple of series that have given me some great quotes to help me explain the trickiness of the ego. I have previously written an article on my website regarding this trickiness, if you’d like to read it, you can here: https://www.donnanelson.com.au/sharings/the-trickiness-of-the-ego
Otherwise, I will also be discussing it throughout this and other videos as well.
We have the choice to stand in the strength of Oneness and Integrity – and I will be making many videos to discuss how (as I did in my previous video) we can do that – or to allow the ego to infiltrate through our weak spots.
While we have persona weak spots and weak moments, we can act as the divisional ego with ourselves, with others and with the world. By ‘weak’, I mean unaware. I’m using the term ‘weak’ as an analogy.
AND we can also use these moments and cracks to let the Light shine through us and as us.
The more Self Aware we become the more choice we have as to who and how we’re being in any given moment.
Back to the quotes, which help me to explain my point here:
“I was raised to be the good girl. Trained to please.” This is a quote from ‘Pieces of Her’ - the teleplay was written by Charlotte Stoudt, based on the book written by Karin Slaughter.
Just take a moment to consider that. Most of us were trained to please. BUT TO PLEASE WHO AND WHAT?
If you accept that we are living inside systems run by the ego construct, then you were trained to please an illusion – something that does not have your or Oneness’s best interests as its guiding principle.
Looking at it this way you could surmise that being trained to please is conditioning that opens you to be exploited and used as a tool, thing and puppet.
It can be seen as covert corruption of the Truth of what you really are – Truth, Love, Light, Oneness. It takes the innocence of our youth and Souls and asks us to ignore our natural intuition, discernment, ethics and morals to become a ‘people pleaser’ - to please personas and systems that may not care a bit about our welfare and Truth.
This is where it gets SUPER nuanced – because of course most of us want to be our best – to be good and nice and pleasing to other people. Can you see how the ego might use that against us? Can you see how others who are deeply immersed in their personas might manipulate us through this?
This brings me to the next series – ‘Midnight at the Pera Palace’, written by Elif Usman in which a character says:
“Do you have to abide by their values just to belong somewhere? You don’t belong there if you can’t be yourself.”
Everyone wants to fit in somewhere, we all want to feel like we belong. Mostly. Why? Because as Oneness we DO belong with one another. And in this ego construct we crave belonging because there’s such a sense of separation, and in the evolution of our journey here, we needed it to survive.
The question is should we change just to belong? Or should we change from our personas to Oneness because it’s WHO WE ARE?
What’s the difference? Everything.
If you’re just wanting to survive and fit in, then you can be used by the ego. Survival here is important – so it’s completely understandable!
Is there a way to survive AND thrive? To be Oneness as we create a world in which we can all be free to explore all of the Oneness that we are? Can we simply be Oneness without the ego construct and its influence on us?
That’s where Strength in Oneness is key.
The daily practices that you partake in to become more aware of your Oneness, and then BE that Oneness are essential to us co-creating a world of Oneness together – a world filled with the Light of Truth.
Naïve? Did I really think that we’d all be sitting around in a circle singing ‘Kumbaya’? Living in dream land? Is Utopia really what I think we can co-create?
If you’ve had genuine experiences of Oneness, you do not need to ask. You know what Truth is because you’ve experienced it – soberly, peacefully, honestly, humbly.
For those of you who haven’t yet, please try checking your cynicism in at the door for a minute and ask which space that cynicism might be coming from – Oneness, or the ego?
Each and every one of us CAN BE the Light – in any moment, and eventually in every moment. It’s a choice we get to make as free-willed beings.
Do you want to be bullied and puppeteered into submission and smallness? Or do you want to be free to use your sovereignty and intuition and discernment to make the best and Truest decisions?
Living Dichotomy – Ego & Oneness - How Do We Be Oneness in The Ego Construct?
One of the most obvious challenges of inviting Oneness into your life, heart, mind and relationships is that we are currently still living in the ego construct as personas. It’s a real thing - a genuine issue that confronts us in real time, as well as philosophically.
If you’re dealing with either yourself, another person or a situation that feels hurtful, triggering or unhealthy - how do you handle it? Is it possible to be Oneness in every moment? The answer is ‘eventually’. It takes a huge shift in perspective, based on a bigger shift in philosophy.
We can have moments of success acting as the Oneness that we are - unless you experience instant and eternal awakening - in which case every now moment is one of Oneness. But back to answering the question as fully as I can here – how do you handle tricky situations? Give yourself some Love and compassion while you learn to be compassionate and loving towards every experience or person.
It’s not a cop out though. Ownership of your behaviour’s important and shows the level of integrity you’re living at. So being mindful of how and who you’re being is a great start. If you act from your persona in a situation, be honest with yourself about it. When you act from Oneness, really feel how that sits.
Be respectful, gentle, patient and kind to yourself and everyone else – remembering that in Truth we are All Oneness. And be the Light as often as possible – turn it into a habit. Understand that you have had a lifetime of living as your persona – and this persona has had a lot of experiences with a lot of people that might have created some interesting and complicated dynamics.
As I’ve said previously, there’s judgement and then there’s discernment. One thinks less of ourselves, others, or the experience - the other has a better understanding of what is healthy for everyone involved and makes choices that come from intuition - not fear, separation or low vibe.
There’s going to be a changeover period between regaining our Identity as Oneness while acting from our personas. It might be a challenging and confusing time! Hence the need for compassion all round. Understanding your own triggers and issues can really help. Just don’t spend all of your time there. Spend time daily connecting with Oneness – preferably every morning and evening – at least.
Get to know the feeling of connecting with Oneness. And also get into the habit of feeling what it’s like to BE Oneness. Do you feel open-hearted, caring, gentle, Loving, compassionate, peaceful, alive and vibrant? Or do you feel small, sad, aggressive, angry, hurt, forlorn or anxious? The first is how you feel when you’re feeling Oneness. The second is all persona-based.
It is possible to live dichotomously on the spot – we can express hurt then Love in the blink of an eye. I have found expressing the persona perspective in a safe way and space immediately allows me to access the Oneness inside of me. I am used to feeling the dichotomous nature of being both Oneness and my persona.
I have not yet been able to BE Oneness 24/7. If I feel unheard when coming from my persona perspective, I can find it harder to feel the Oneness. So, I mostly write out my frustrations, concerns, sadness, etc. Mostly😉 It’s like a dance between the two – Truth dancing with illusion.
